• Trim wick to 1/4” and center it before lighting your candle. This prevents carbon build up on the wick (mushrooming), dark smoking and soot in the air. In jars where scissors won't fit, use nail clippers.
• Burn candles 1 hour for each inch of it's diameter. This allows the flame to melt the wax to the outer edge. Burning less time will cause the candle to core burn down the middle and shorten burn time.
• The best way to extinquish a flame is with a candle snuffer, but if you don't have one hold your finger in front of the flame as you blow the candle out. The air will flow around your finger and extinquish the candle from both sides. This prevents hot wax from splattering.
• Refrigerating your candles before using them will help them to burn slowly and evenly. Make sure that you wrap them in foil or plastic first to prevent moisture from getting into the wick. Never allow candles to freeze.
It will crack them.
• Before you place a votive in a votive cup put a few drops of water in the cup. This will make it easier to clean the cup after the votive has melted.
• If you put used votive cups in the freezer for approximately 20 minutes the remaining wax will be easier to clean out.
• To remove wax from carpet, set your iron on low heat and get an old towel. Place the towel on the spilled wax and press down with the iron.
The towel will absorb the wax. If a little wax remains and the iron method has gotten all it can, let the remaining wax harden and brush carpet
and vacuum.
• To help remove scratches and to keep candles clean and shiny, rub them gently with mesh cloth (like nylons).
• Extinguish taper or pillar candles when they get within 2" of their holders. Discontinue use of a container candle when 1/2" of wax remains.
